Stephen Stiles was stuck under the tractor on his property for over an hour before he was found unresponsive, according to the coroner's release.
Emergency crews were called to the 1900 block of Renoll Lane, North Codorus Township just before 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10, the coroner detailed.
Stephen is believed to have been attempting to dig a swale in the ground to help with rainwater drainage, when his hydrostatic tractor became too close to the embankment and began to slide, before rolling on top of him at the base of the incline, stopping near a cinderblock wall, the coroner explained.
Firefighters freed the man but he unfortunately died from his injuries. Deputy Chief Coroner Scott Pennewell was called to investigate and certify the death. Stephen was declared deceased at 8:40 p.m. by an accident causing "positional asphyxia due to being pinned under tractor," the coroner stated.
There will be no autopsy.
The man's identity was released on Tuesday, after the next of kin has been notified.
